Security Vulnerability in Older Browsers: SSL V3

Lisbon Credit Union has been made aware of a certain software defect that could compromise the security of interactions between our members and internet based services such as home banking.  The software that contains the defect is known a SSL V3 (secure sockets layer version 3) and is commonly used in older versions of all web browsers (Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari to name a few).  SSL V3 has been replaced by newer versions, however older browsers would not contain the newer version of SSL.  The issue has been dubbed “poodle” by the computer security sector if you would like to find out more about it.

Lisbon Credit Union takes all security matters seriously and we understand that technical issues like this can be daunting for our members.  If you are using a browser that is affected by the issue with SSL V3 the <Credit Union Name> home banking site will redirect to a page similar to the one below.  The redirect to the page below will begin on October 30, 2014 and continue until November 20, 2014.  During the time between October 30, 2014 and November 20, 2014 users with affected browsers will be allowed to continue to home banking by clicking the “Continue to Home Banking” link at the bottom of the page.  Please use the time between October 30, 2014 and November 20, 2014 to update your browser to a version that is not affected by this problem.  To insure the integrity and security of the home banking system browsers affected by the SSL V3 issue will be denied access to home banking after November 20, 2014.

If your browser is not affected you will see no differences in the Lisbon Credit Union home banking system.
